A Process to Support a New Generation of ICT-Empowered Social Entrepreneurs and Innovative Non-governmental Organizations Serving Markets at the Bottom of the Economic Pyramid

Digital Partners India recognized early on the great potential that new information and communication technologies have to shape emerging economies and serve markets for the benefit of the poor. To activate this tremendous potential, Digital Partners India helped develop and supported The Social Enterprise Incubator (SEI) to support those whose vision and business models seek to use ICT to empower the poor and their underserved communities.

Applicants selected by our team of judges to become part of the six-month SEI process are provided mentorship services (assistance to design, incubate, deploy and scale innovative projects) by teams of professionals from selected graduate schools and industry. At the conclusion of the process, seed funding is awarded to those projects deemed to be the most promising based on projected social benefit and capacity to achieve sustainability. Previous investments have ranged from $10,000 to $100,000.
